How can employees declare income tax?

Modified on Thu, 21 Mar 2024 at 02:08 PM

The government of India mandates that individuals who earn a certain amount of annual income must pay Income Tax. The IT declaration is the first stage of the taxation process. It is a set of information an employee submits to their employer. The declaration provides details about the employee’s gross income and expenditures. This enables the employer to decide upon the amount of TDS (Tax Deducted at Source).

Let’s see how an employee can make an IT declaration.

Go to the My finances (1) menu and click on Manage tax (2). Now, choose Declaration (3).

Click on any of the tabs like 1.5 Lac deductions (4), Other deductions etc. Choose the deduction name and click on the edit icon (5) against it.

On the next window that pops up, enter the amount (6) in the field provided.  Click on the Upload document (7) button. After uploading the proofs, click Save (8).

You can click on any of the tabs like Other deductions, Tax saving allowances, House property etc. in the same way and declare tax.
