How to override salary components?

Modified on Wed, 24 May 2023 at 06:44 PM

Salary is the total amount of money paid by an employer to the employee periodically for the services he/she renders. The structure of a salary includes various components such as basic salary, allowances, PF, Bonus, other benefits, etc.

For certain employees, the finance admin may wish to manually allocate salary breakup to components as it may not follow the standard salary structure formulae. In these cases Keka portal offers the payroll admin the flexibility to manually allocate the breakup to some or all the components.

Before overriding any salary component, make sure that the option to override is enabled for the salary component. You can learn how to do that from the article: How to enable/disable the override option for any salary component?

Here's how the payroll admin can override the salary components of a salary structure-

Go to the Payroll (1) and then click on the Payroll Admin (2) tab where you will be directly redirected to the Operations (3) tab. Under Overrides(Salaries components/contributions/TDS) section, click on the Employees' Salary Component Override (4).

Once you click on the the Employees' Salary Component Override below is the screen which will appear, where you need to enter the override amount (1) in respective compone and click Update (2). Use the Import Component Overrides (3) button to override the salary component amounts in bulk.

To learn how to use use the bulk import feature on Keka, click here.

The override amount that you enter should be the Annual amount and not monthly amount for the salary component.

This is how you can override salary components. Hope this article was helpful in solving your query.
