When applying for a leave in the next calendar year, employee gets an error stating that there is not enough Leave balance available for the employee however the employee has enough leave balance in their bin?

Availing leave is important for any employee for their personal well-being and to have a better work-life balance. Employees have different leave types available that they can use when required based on the leave policy configured.

In case an employee is trying to apply for leave in the next leave calendar year, then, in this case, the employee may not be able to apply for the leave. This usually may happen in the last month of the calendar year when employees may be trying to apply for leave for the coming month but are unable to.

This is because the year-end processing may not have been completed for the employee's leave plan. Only after the year-end processing is complete employees will be able to apply for the leave.

However in case you would like to allow employees to apply for the leave, based on their projected accrual for the next calendar year, you can enable this from the leave type settings. They cannot use the leaves that are yet to be carry-forwarded but they can use the leave that is going to be accrued for the date the leave is applied.

To enable this go to Time Attend (1) and select Leave(2). Here move to Leave Plans and you will see the different Leave plans and the Leave types added under them. Select the Leave Plan and the Leave type you want. Here under Actions click Options and go to Settings (3).

In the settings go to the second step Applying Leaves & Approval and scroll down to Additional Settings. Here select Employees can apply for future dated leave based projected accumilation. Once this is selected click Save & Continue and then Save and close to save this settings. 

Now employees will be able to apply for future dated leaves based on future accrual.
