Enhancing Leave Accrual Flexibility: Uneven Accruals

Modified on Fri, 21 Jul 2023 at 12:49 PM

In response to the ever-evolving workforce needs, we are excited to introduce an updated leave accrual feature, designed to cater to industries with seasonal variations. This new functionality allows organizations, particularly those in retail and similar sectors, to distribute leave accrual unevenly throughout the leave calendar year. By implementing this feature, employees can now accrue leave based on seasonal demands, ensuring a fair and flexible approach to managing their time off.

Accessing the Feature:

Configuring the uneven leave accrual setting is a seamless process. To begin, navigate to the Time Attend section and select Leave. From the Leave menu, choose Leave Plans, locate the leave type you wish to configure, and access its settings.

Then, under the Accrual & Accumulation section, you will find the new option, 'Accrual is distributed irregularly throughout the year.' By clicking on this option, a table corresponding to your accrual schedule will appear.

The table will display boxes based on your chosen accrual frequency (e.g., 12 boxes for monthly accrual, 3 boxes for quarterly accrual). Simply fill in the desired values in the corresponding boxes based on your specific accrual requirements, and you can even set accrual to zero for certain months. Save the settings to activate the uneven leave accrual feature seamlessly.

When configuring the uneven leave accrual feature, keep the following points in mind for a smooth implementation:

1. Incompatible Settings: Uneven leave accrual cannot be used alongside settings like Proration on joining (complete setting), Proration on exit (only the date range will be removed), and tenure-based settings.

2. Leave Calendar Start Date: Remember that uneven leave accrual is not compatible if the leave calendar starts from the employee's joining date.

3. Potential Anomaly: In rare cases, there may be an anomaly where the accrued balance exceeds the annual leave quota.
For instance, if the annual quota is 12 leaves, and uneven leave accrual is activated with 0 accrual for all months except September (which offers 12 leaves), an employee joining in August could have an accrued balance of 12, while the quota would be prorated to 8, leading to a temporary discrepancy.

This new feature will significantly enhance the flexibility and customization options available in our leave management system. By accommodating the specific needs of industries with seasonal variations, we aim to streamline the leave accrual process and improve overall employee satisfaction. We eagerly await your feedback and suggestions to further enhance your experience with our system.
